I have always loved wildlife and nature, as a child, I would regularly watch National Geographic. However, growing up in the inner city I wasn't privy to many of the animals that intrigued me. Birds of Prey and songs birds have always been on the top of my list. Parks offer a wonderful opportunity to see these amazing creatures, yet my environment would prove that's not always the case.
In the 1980s and 1990s, neighborhood parks where I come from were riddled with gang activity. Designated areas for families and children were more like hotspots for murder and drugs. Community development projects never quite made it to impoverished communities, leaving little to no opportunities to view wildlife suitably. Such as a Wildlife Refuge, Botanical Garden, Riparian Preserve, Wildlife Sanctuary, Wetlands, or Nature trails ... not even a local Audubon Center. With these odds stacked against any wildlife and nature enthusiast, it can prove to be devastating for the willingness to go further.
My love for wildlife and nature kept me pursuing photography. The ability to capture something in real-time and have it in a capsule of sorts ... just blew my mind. Since then, I've worked and photographed newborn children, weddings, cooperate events, sports, food, travel, graduations, parties, headshots, models, and cars. I'm grateful to have found the lane I was inclined to from the start.....nature and wildlife photography!
Arizona is now my play area.
